| Sacred Dance/Good Samaritan Dance Academy
Sacred Dance expresses our love for Jesus Christ through worshipful movement. A comprehensive program of dance instruction and rehearsal is offered in the church dance studio at the Good Samaritan Dance Academy during the week for ages 4 through adult. There are four dance choirs: Adult, Teen, Children and Cherub, that minister in the Good Samaritan Sunday services, at nursing homes and other area churches. A class is also offered for teens and adults interested in learning to use worship dance for their prayer life and personal devotions.
Let them praise His Name with the dance! – Psalm 149
Our God is indeed worthy to be praised with all our heart, soul, mind and strength! Have you ever felt so joyful in the Lord or so moved by the melody and lyrics of a wonderful worship song that you felt an impulse to raise your arms, or kneel, or bow -- or gesture in some way the glory of God? If you have ever felt an impulse like this, we believe you have the heart of a worship dancer. Yes, YOU have the heart of a worship dancer. And if you have the heart of a worship dancer, there is a class right here at Good Samaritan where you can express that heart in a safe, non-threatening environment. You can leave your self-consciousness behind and step out and begin to learn a new language with which to honor our Lord God.
If you have ever been to the 9 o’clock service or a special holy day service, you have probably seen the Dance Choir, and been blessed by that beautiful ministry. But did you know that “congregational” dance is for – well - the congregation! In Jesus’ time, and even today in the Hebrew tradition, dance is used in worship services of all sorts. Maybe you’ve seen this Messianic dance or been to other churches where congregational dance is used. Maybe you’ve even thought you’d like to do that. Now, on behalf of the music ministry and the women’s ministry, we bring you the Adult Beginning Worship Dance class.
Whether you want to use dance solely in your prayer closet as a ministry to God; or if you want to venture into a congregational worship setting, the adult beginning worship dance class is for you. Call Gwen Prestwood to find out more. Fall Schedule
