![]() Father Greg Brewer The Story:
Father Greg says that he had no intention of becoming a priest.
As a "rebellious teenager, estranged from church"
he thought priests were old men in black who never had any fun.
But if you ask Greg’s mother she tells a different tale.
Although he doesn’t remember it,
his mother said that when Greg was five years old
he told her that when he grew up he was going to be an Episcopal priest!
In his freshman years at Lynchburg University
he had a dramatic conversion experience and started his life in ministry.
While completing his Bachelors in music and religious studies
Greg was involved with ministry to high school students
and a speaker at Faith Alive.
During those years he met many spiritual leaders
who really influenced him, Agnes Sanford in particular .
He tried all different churches and found that the liturgy,
openness to renewals and sacramental theology of the Episcopal church fit him.
After graduating from Virginia Theological Seminary in 1976
he became Curate at an Episcopal church in Winter Park, Florida.
He became the founding Vicar of Church of the New Covenant.
It was there that he met his future wife, Laura Lee.
They married in 1980.
After fifteen years, it was time to move on and the Lord brought
Greg to join the faculty of Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry in Ambridge,
Pennsylvania. Greg taught Sacramental Theology, liturgy and served as head of chapel and field education.
Greg became Rector of the Church of the Good Samaritan in late 1996.
